Shearing Time

The gang in the barn has been working very hard for months growing beautiful fleeces.

Also… It’s going to be getting warm soon and they’ll be very happy to get these wool coats off.

This is the first time I didn’t have the Teeswater/BFLs sheared in the autumn before they got into the winter hay rations. Their locks will be long and hopefully all my picking at them through the winter will pay off.

Each time we shear we also have some folks coming by just to watch the fun. If you’d like to join us you’d be very welcome.

We’ll be starting late morning on Thursday, March 14th. Drop me a note and we’ll make arrangements.

If you are interested in purchasing a fleece this is a great time to stop by. You can have first pick right off the sheep!

This little stinker may be my biggest worry for this shearing. Polly has figured out that she can jump over the stall walls. It’s like she has springs for legs. This will be her first shearing and she’ll be a challenge. It should be entertaining. I’ll keep you posted.
