New opportunities in wool and fiber!

One of the reasons I’ve been dragging on the blog posting lately is that I’ve been so busy with new opportunities arising in the Wool and Fiber Arts area.

.

.

SEKSPA, Southeastern Kentucky Sheep Producers Association, which I have been a member of for years has started a new chapter for Wool and Fiber Arts producers. Being a fleece producer rather than meat, I have been in the minority. It is so fun to finally have a local resource for connecting wool producers. We have only just gotten started but I’ve met some great people and see some fantastic potential in what we can do together.

.

In conjunction with SEKSPA’s new chapter I learned that Fibershed was starting a new Kentucky/Tennessee chapter. Fibershed is an amazing organization and I’m very excited to see how this will help the fiber producers in our area to grow.

.

And on a more local level, a new homemaker’s club began at our County Cooperative Extension Office called Yarn Spinners. There are only a couple actual ‘spinners’, most are crocheters or knitters. It’s been fun to get together with them to work on projects and just to have a reason to stop work on the farm and get some spinning done.

Many new opportunities!

2024 is going to be a great year to create exciting things. #atthefarm
